Berlin

Mike next to a Trabant, East German car

Mike on a bunk bed in nuclear bunker

After Christmas Gel and Mike flew to Berlin for a few days. We visted the Story of Berlin museum, as well as Checkpoint Charlie, which was a Wall crossing between East and West Berlin during the cold war. The museum at the Checkpoint had lots of examples of extremes people went to while trying to cross over to the West before the Wall fell.

It also snowed in Berlin one of the days we were there, which was very exciting. Like the lions in Munich, there were a few of these bears dotted around Berlin. The bear is the symbol of Berlin from centuries ago.
Christmas Day

Somehow there's only a couple of photos of Christmas Day. Sorry about that. But you can see we had lots of fun with some antlers Gel brought along.

Hiking and caving

While staying up north with Mike's parents and family, we went on a 10k hike (up a very big hill) and also visted some caves.

Gel's weekend in Brussels

At the start of December Gel went to Brussels with a couple of friends to take in the Christmas markets there. It was a lot of fun, and we all spent lots of money, mostly on food! We did buy a few Christmas presents though, which was good because that was the point of the trip. No ice skating that weekend (we ran out of time), but I have been since at Hampstead Heath with people from netball. It was fun!
